Australian Bureau of Statistics figures have confirmed that the growth in urban housing markets plateaued over winter.
Weighted average growth in the eight capital cities in the September quarter totalled a negligible 0.1%, according to the ABS. Melbourne showed the most significant growth at 2.7%, while values fell in Sydney (-0.9%), Brisbane (-2.1%), Adelaide (-1.4%), Hobart (-1.4) and Canberra (-0.4%).
The average year-on-year growth across all the capital cities was 11.5%. Melbourne again led the way with annual growth of 18.8%, with the slowest growth in Brisbane at just 3%.
